Lessons from Haiti

I hope to see everyone in the Honors Program at Dr. Arthur Fournier's presentation,

"Haiti and Its Earthquake: Life Lessons from the Haitian People"
on Tuesday, September 14 at 3:30 PM in the Rogers Center.

A Merrimack alumnus, Dr. Fournier is co-founder of Project Medishare, the first medical agency to respond after the disaster. On Tuesday he will, in his own words, tell "the true story of the Haitian people -- their courage and resilience through one of the worst natural disasters in history."

Eight months after the devastating earthquake, it is imperative that the Haitian people not be forgotten. Please come an listen to Dr. Fournier.

  1. The disaster in Haiti should make us all appreciate how lucky we are to have a place to live, friends to spend time with, and food to eat. We should also be reminded to never take things for granted. We are lucky to be able to get an education, the ability to see with our eyes, use our hands, and walk with our feet. I admire the "courage and resiliency" that the Haitian people have had during the destructive earthquake. I also admire Dr.Fournier for his dedication to service and his quick response to help the people in need. I am inspired to always keep a positive attitude in times of distress, and spend as much time as I can helping others.

  2. It would be interesting to learn about the true story of haitian people. They have been through a lot and recently I learned that the earthquake in Haiti was the same as the ones we get in California, but the buildings are built to code unlike in Haiti because Haiti can't afford to code buildings. IT would be cool to hear about their life story.

  3. It was really inspiring to hear Dr. Fournier talk about the impact which the Haitian people have had bestowed upon his life. His dedication towards helping the Haitian people makes me appreciate how fortunate we are to be able say that we have food, shelter, family, and friends. Dr. Fournier made me realize how quickly things can change in a matter of an instant. He is an inspiration to all of us for his relief efforts and quick thinking response time.

  4. I believe we take for granted sometimes how fortunate we are to be able to go to college and receive an education. We are so lucky to live where we do, and the disaster in Haiti should allow us to realize this and make the most of all the opportunities we are given. We should give back to our community and help others as much as we can, and do anything we are able to do in order to help the people of Haiti.
